An unpleasant surprise
The drop in the rear Soft tire affected practically all the riders during the British GP Sprint. But it is undeniable that on Marc Marquez‘s Ducati this performance collapse was even more marked. While Martin was about 2″ slower than his best race time at the end of the race, Marquez raised his best time by 4.5″ on the penultimate lap and almost 5″ on the final one.

Concerns for the GP
After the race Marc Marquez explained to journalists what happened, in statements reported by As: “It was quite risky because you could fall at any moment and that worries me ahead of the race. If this kind of degradation occurs, I will end up outside the points zone. The difference between the Soft and Medium rear tires is not that significant, not here. It had never happened to us at Ducati during testing. We will try to analyze and understand if I need to improve my riding, my setup, and we will try to manage the first laps differently.”

Marquez also revealed that he did not optimize his qualifying due to a misunderstanding: “I saw a yellow flag instead of the red-yellow one. I looked at the illuminated panel and saw it yellow, but it was a red-yellow-red panel. Only at that moment when I glanced I saw yellow and since I had already received a warning at Le Mans for improving a sector under yellow flag, I slowed down. I would have finished third.”
