Marquez seeks continuity
The 2026 MotoGP season is preparing to experience its fifth event with the Le Mans weekend, one of the most iconic stops on the calendar and historically fertile ground for Ducati, which before Johann Zarco’s “home” victory in 2025 had built a small empire from 2020 to 2024.
It will not be easy for the Borgo Panigale factory to rebuild that feeling with the “Bugatti”, firstly because the probable rain could make the weekend a lottery, and secondly because the GP26 has not given positive feedback in the first events of the championship. Even Marc Marquez himself, the undisputed dominant in 2025, is struggling to find performance consistency and is at -44 from Marco Bezzecchi. And indeed, he does not want to hear about the championship before truly feeling the Desmosedici in his hands.
Marquez’s words
“Physically the fall on Sunday in Jerez had no consequences, I landed well. Monday’s tests were interesting, maybe depending on the weather conditions some things could be seen. Anyway, I have to work on the bike’s setup and especially on consistency, which at the moment is the aspect that creates me the most difficulty“, this is the comment from the Spanish champion.
“Before thinking about the championship, we have to fix some things. At times I show speed, but I lack consistency“, he added. Contrary to what one might think, Marquez will not do the rain dance: “If you wait for it to rain, it means you are not fast on dry. So let’s hope for dry conditions because we believe we can improve step by step, and then it is always better for the riders. In the wet, on some circuits you have an incredible feeling, on others you struggle more and it is always a lottery“.
