Aprilia had dominated at Mugello, Ducati took revenge at Misano. The two Italian manufacturers that are monopolizing this MotoGP season have shared the victories on the two tricolor tracks on the calendar. However, the Ducati coup in the San Marino race has a special weight in the World Championship perspective: now Marc Marquez has definitively closed the 102-point gap he had after Mugello and has caught up to first place in the standings tied with Jorge Martin. The excellent result of the Borgo Panigale bikes at Misano was also witnessed by the second place of Alex Marquez and the fourth of Fermin Aldeguer.
Three Ducatis preceded the best Aprilia, a fact that Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali wanted to emphasize after the race to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP, inevitably reigniting the spirits in this splendid derby with Noale: “This situation is really exciting. At the beginning of the year we were very worried, it seemed that Aprilia had done an extraordinary job – Domenicali commented – but today here the fastest Aprilia stayed quite behind, while we have many Ducatis ahead. It means that the Ducati Corse guys have done an amazing job, despite also developing the 850cc. It seems like a great challenge that all Italians should be proud of“.

Applause for Bezzecchi
Domenicali then, with sportsmanship, paid tribute to Marco Bezzecchi, the missed protagonist of Sunday’s race due to the crash that took him out during the first lap: “I feel sorry for Bez, I would have liked to see a great race on track – Domenicali added – he was very strong here and I think he and Marquez would have fought until the end. Marc has been very good these months, from his return at Mugello onwards. We also had some luck, a lot of things happened. Now we start again from zero and may the best win“. The appointment is already for next weekend, in Austria.
