Lucid prepares a new mid-size SUV

The goal is to offer an efficient and affordably priced product, in the USA around 50.000 dollars in line with the declared commercial strategy, so as to increase sales volume. For 2026 Lucid is making cautious but ambitious forecasts: deliveries between 25.000 and 27.000 vehicles, with a simultaneous improvement in gross margin designed to straighten out the company’s accounts, still supported from a financial point of view by the Saudi Sovereign Fund, the primary shareholder.

It will challenge Tesla Model Y

The new SUV will be the third model in the range and, unlike the Air and Gravity, will be designed to compete with the Tesla Model Y, focusing on a new platform optimized to reduce costs. A key strategic element is production: the SUV will be the first model manufactured exclusively in Saudi Arabia, at the King Salman Automotive Cluster in Jeddah. Opened in 2023 and currently engaged in the kit assembly of the Lucid Air, the site will move to full production of the new model, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The plan also includes an increase in local employment through training programs.
