Lorenzo votes Aprilia
The first races of the 2026 MotoGP season have elected Aprilia as the bike to beat, but clearly Ducati cannot be counted out yet, especially after Alex Marquez’s nice victory in Jerez. The Le Mans round will further clarify the ideas, as it comes after the first day of testing, on the chances of a comeback for the Borgo Panigale factory, particularly struggling with official riders Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia.
In his podcast Duralavita, Jorge Lorenzo has no doubts in making a prediction: “We have only raced four grands prix, but for me this year only Bezzecchi can lose the title“.

Lorenzo, the Aprilia minimoto and the Ducati tractor
Jorge Lorenzo gave a technical analysis of the two rivals: “If Ducati gained a tenth, Aprilia gained three. Aprilia took three steps forward and Ducati only one. And this is seen in corners, on straights. Their bike is scary, it sticks to the asphalt and turns like a minimoto, while Ducati looks like a tractor. Aprilia will dominate on 80-90% of the circuits.”

Marquez’s crisis
In particular, it cannot be overlooked that Marquez’s last victory dates back to September 2015, almost eight months ago. The Spaniard has not won for 10 GPs, his third worst streak since racing in MotoGP, preceded by 21 races between 2019 and 2021 and 53 between 2021 and 2024.
On Marquez, Lorenzo is clear: “Because of that arm he does not have the physical strength to brake at the limit and for corner entry. But he does not want to talk about it. Technically he remains superior, even in those conditions. But he can no longer push the bike to the maximum as before”.
