Ferrari, the limit for Hamilton
Ferrari approached the Miami weekend with high hopes, stemming from the introduction of the first major update package and the debut of the “Macarena” wing in a GP. Improvements were seen in terms of pace and single lap, but they were not up to the growth recorded by McLaren (back competitive for the win) and Red Bull, with a seemingly reinvigorated Max Verstappen.
One of Super Max’s battles in Miami came precisely with Lewis Hamilton, who had wet powder due to contact in the early stages of the GP with Franco Colapinto. The Brit nevertheless had the opportunity to identify the area where Ferrari must invest resources to keep up with the competition.
Hamilton’s words
“The team worked incredibly hard to get the updates on track, and they allowed us to take a step forward, but others have also improved. McLaren’s novelties were worth much more than expected, which did not happen with us. So they are definitely doing something different,” said the seven-time world champion.

“Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull are doing something different from us with the front wing,” he specified. “We have to analyze everything to see if there is something we can improve, but just look at the other’s front wing and compare it with ours, you can see the difference. I don’t know if the gap is necessarily there, but I wonder what effect it has, because the others seem to have it and have improved.”
