The team makes mistakes, but Lewis makes mistakes too
The count of Lewis Hamilton’s penalties in this 2026 season continues to grow: yesterday, with the sanction incurred in qualifying for impeding Oscar Piastri, we had reached four in the last six race weekends, three of which in the last three; today, however, it’s already time for a new update.

Thanks to a suicidal strategy from Ferrari, Hamilton, in the additional pit stop he was forced to make by the team, managed to receive another five-second penalty, this time for speeding in the pit lane. A serious error on the part of the seven-time world champion, which caused him to lose an additional position at the end of the race, this time to the advantage of his teammate Charles Leclerc.
Understandable frustration
Then, like a footballer exasperated by too many fouls being called against him, Hamilton complained on the radio about his difficult disciplinary period: “Every time I give these stewards a chance, they give me a penalty!”, Hamilton vented at the end of the GP.
Just before, while still in the race, Hamilton had let all his frustration show over the radio, uttering a laconic “come on, they’re handing out penalties left and right”. And now the dream of bringing the world title back to Maranello and winning his eighth career World Championship becomes much more complicated.
