Lewis Hamilton really seems to have unlocked his potential. After securing second place in the Canadian GP, the British Ferrari driver was also a major protagonist on Friday in Monaco. Hamilton indeed set the best time in FP2 after being second – only behind teammate Charles Leclerc – in the morning session. Of course, it’s still too early for grand declarations, but the impression is that in the Principality the SF-26 is truly the car to beat, and that Hamilton therefore has what it takes to contend for what would be his first victory as a Ferrari driver.

“Overall it was a positive day – the seven-time world champion told reporters – the car behaved well from the first laps and the team did an excellent job with the changes made between the two sessions, managing to complete the planned program without particular problems. Monaco is always a very particular challenge: the bumps and very close barriers make it difficult to find the right balance and put together the perfect lap. There is still potential to extract, and this evening we will focus on the details, because here the margins are very small and there is work to be done in view of tomorrow’s qualifying.”. Tomorrow, the hunt for pole position could already determine a good part of Sunday’s success.
