A Miami with revised rules
During the April break, FIA and Formula 1 moved to try to understand how to introduce changes to improve the weaknesses of the 2026 regulations. And on April 20th, a detailed list of changes was released that will come into effect for the most part starting from Miami and will concern some aspects of qualifying, races, starts, and wet weather driving.

What does Hamilton think?
Overall, the drivers said they were satisfied to have been heard in the discussions over the past weeks, but some did not seem so impressed by the list of changes. Max Verstappen called it “a tickle,” Fernando Alonso ventured to say that “it won’t change much,” and Lance Stroll also seemed rather critical and skeptical.

Also Lewis Hamilton, in Thursday’s interviews in Miami, did not seem to expect much: “It’s not really a new F1, but we’ll see. I don’t really know how these changes could affect the races. I’m not sure how big this step forward is, we’ll find out.”
The Englishman did, however, let slip an observation: “Obviously we tried them on the simulator, to me it all seemed pretty much the same. Sorry, but that’s how it is. But who knows, maybe the races will seem better but I don’t know. We’ll see.”
