Lewis Hamilton a year ago took pole position in the Sprint Qualifying of the Chinese GP – then won the Sprint – today instead he did not go beyond the fourth absolute time behind the Mercedes and the McLaren of Lando Norris, but he is still satisfied with his performance and the work done by Ferrari on a frantic Friday in which the Macarena wing was tested in Free Practice only to be replaced after a spin by Lewis Hamilton.

“I am very satisfied – the Ferrari driver told Sky Sport – my team did a fantastic job, especially my engineers who turned the car around, because in free practice I had spun in a session that turned out to be complicated. The car gave me great feelings. We have a lot of work to do and we have to push very hard in Maranello to improve in terms of power. In Mercedes they did a fantastic job, we have to push to reduce that gap. At the car level, the feelings are great and we can compete with them in the corners, but when you lack power then you have a problem.”

“I couldn’t say why we went back – Hamilton added about the Macarena wing – we rushed to bring it here because it wasn’t supposed to be on the car in the first five games. They did a great job rushing to bring it here. Maybe it was just a little bit premature, so we took it off the car, but we will work to bring it back when it’s ready.”
