Difficult Sunday
Lewis Hamilton’s Sunday in Belgium continues to be marked by unfortunate incidents. After receiving a five-second penalty at the start of the race for causing, according to the stewards, the accident that took George Russell out of the race, Hamilton was also put under investigation – along with the Ferrari team – for an unsafe release during the pit stop, which was precisely the stop where the seven-time world champion had just served the penalty imposed on him.

The pit stop was dramatic because Hamilton, when leaving, accidentally hit a Ferrari crew mechanic, who was still moving and was in the exit path of the car at the moment Hamilton was given the green light to leave. The Ferrari driver stopped for a moment and then restarted, checking via radio that the mechanic hit was okay. Shortly after, Ferrari itself confirmed to journalists that the person hit was fortunately fine.

The stewards will make a decision regarding Hamilton and the team after the race, presumably after hearing the version of events from #44 himself and a team representative. Certainly, this Spa afternoon was anything but simple for the seven-time world champion.
