Marc Marquez is already almost unbeatable at Sachsenring. If then his most dangerous rivals – brother Alex and Fabio Di Giannantonio – end their race in the gravel, for the world champion it is really all too easy. With a race of total control, the Spaniard confirms his dominance on the German circuit and moves to -18 from Jorge Martin in the standings.

Aside from a so-so start (but still enough to set curve-1 ahead of everyone), Marquez’s race is a solo in which he does not show any peaks, simply because he does not need to. And when the other Ducatis behind him fall, those few drops of sweat he had to shed vanish. The Aprilia Trackhouse do not pose a threat to #93, who rightly celebrates with a ten-star crown, one for each MotoGP win on a circuit he knows better than his own home.

Behind the Spaniard, there is a fierce battle between the two RS-GP26 of Davide Brivio’s team. Ai Ogura wins out, confirming second place in the World Championship and nibbling nine points off Martin, while Raul Fernandez achieves his third podium of the season, the second consecutive after Assen.

Off the podium Pedro Acosta, for 30 laps in no man’s land, Martin instead saves the top-5 from the clutches of Francesco Bagnaia. In light of the numerous problems with feeling, it can be said that both limited the damage: if the Spaniard is consoled by the championship lead, “Pecco” goes on vacation with a -65 that makes those comeback dreams he believed in until Thursday even harder.

Seventh position for Fabio Quartararo (author of a great weekend), top-10 also for Luca Marini, Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder. All riders who see the checkered flag score points, pity for Cal Crutchlow who falls while fighting for 15th place with Toprak Razgatlioglu. Maverick Viñales watches this duel as a non-paying spectator, all race at a proper distance from the back of the group. TopGun returns to the pits on lap 27, apparently for a technical problem. But, considering the coldness with the KTM box, there could be other reasons. And at this point, a split during the summer break would not be out of the question.

The next appointment

MotoGP goes on summer break and returns to the track on the weekend of August 7-9, at Silverstone. It starts on Friday at 12:45 with FP1, the sessions will begin at 17; Saturday FP2 at 12:10, followed by Qualifying (Q1 at 12:50, Q2 at 13:15) and the Sprint at 17. Sunday the GP will start at 14.
