The first free practice session of the French weekend at Le Mans showed a total and surprising reshuffle of the cards: the best time was set by Luca Marini, with the factory team Honda, who took the luxury of giving a gap of as much as 2 tenths to the second in the standings, Pedro Acosta. But Honda can also smile with the local hero of Le Mans – and reigning winner – Johann Zarco: the Frenchman from the LCR team in fact posted the third best time of the session. Apart from Acosta and an always effective Fabio Di Giannantonio – author of the fourth time in FP1 and best Ducati of the session – the other ‘big’ names in the standings are all far from the top.

Alex Marquez, coming off the victory in Jerez, was the author of the seventh time, his brother Marc settled in ninth position while the two Aprilias of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin started the weekend in low gear, in 14th and 15th position. Even 18th was Francesco Bagnaia, on the second Ducati of the factory team. Hide and seek or actual problems for the big names? We will have the answer already this afternoon with the Practice that will define the ten direct accesses to Q2 tomorrow.
It should be noted, however, that many of today’s results were still influenced by the choice of tires: Marini and Acosta, for example, used new tires for their last timed attempt, while the various Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez and Marc Marquez used the same set of tires for the entire session. A not insignificant factor.

The schedule
MotoGP returns to the track this afternoon at 3 pm for the Practice session that will determine the first ten qualifiers for Q2. Tomorrow at 10:10 am FP2, followed by Q1 (10:50) and Q2 (11:15), while the Sprint will start at 3 pm. Sunday, this time at 2 pm, the fifth GP of the 2026 World Championship.
