Mugello, Marquez attempts the miracle
Marc Marquez is looking for another great comeback. Just 16 days after the injury sustained in the Le Mans Sprint – where he fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot – and following the double surgery in Barcelona (in addition to the foot, a screw was fixed in his right shoulder), the nine-time world champion already wants to return to racing. According to the Spanish edition of Motorsport.com, the Ducati rider appears in the first provisional entry list of those registered for the Italian GP which will be held this weekend at Mugello.

In the coming days, the Ducati rider will have to undergo further checks with the doctors who usually follow him. If he receives clearance, he will first try a road bike to check his physical condition. After this test, he will fly to Mugello and will be examined by the MotoGP medical director, Dr. Angel Charte: if he gets the green light, Marquez will be able to participate in FP1.
In any case, #93 will have the final say on his participation for the rest of the weekend: Mugello is a demanding track, with many long corners that put the body to the test. It is also a circuit that historically has never thrilled Marquez, who has won in Tuscany “only” twice.

While Johann Zarco is awaiting surgery, the Castrol Honda LCR team is still working on finding his replacement for the upcoming races. More information will be shared soon, once everything is finalized and secured.

His brother Alex and Johann Zarco will certainly not be there, seriously injured at Montmeló. Gresini and LCR have not yet announced any official decision on replacements. Lucio Cecchinello’s team published a note highlighting the ongoing work to find a substitute. The FIM regulations require any team to replace a rider in the infirmary if at least ten days have passed since the injury and the race in question.
