An April without races
The failure to hold the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix in April has effectively created a hole in the calendar, given that from March 29 in Japan to May 3 in Miami there will be four weeks of rest from track activities.
And between the Suzuka race and the Canadian race on May 24, almost two months will pass, during which racing will only take place in Miami on May 3.

This will obviously force the teams to review their plans, particularly in terms of development in this initial phase of the championship.
There will be time to process the data received between Melbourne, Shanghai and Suzuka and decide which updates to bring to Miami and subsequent Grands Prix. All this while keeping in mind that right after the American race, the ADUO for power units could be triggered – if the Federation decides to confirm the Florida stage as the first activation date of the recovery system for engine manufacturers.
Ferrari’s plans: a package and a half in Miami
Explaining what Ferrari will do on the SF-26 was team principal Frederic Vasseur, in the Shanghai pre-race: “We were planning to introduce a good package of updates for Bahrain and therefore we will postpone it for Miami. See then if we can introduce parts that were supposed to arrive later. Maybe we will be able to bring a package and a half of updates for Miami”, the French manager said.
Meanwhile, for FP1 in Japan, a new test for the Macarena wing has been confirmed, also seen in the free practice of the Chinese Grand Prix.
