The Race Direction took no action
Nothing was missing yesterday in Barcelona in terms of ‘drama’. Besides the fear for the health of Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco, there was also the mess at Aprilia between Jorge Martin and Raul Fernandez during the first lap after the third and final start.

Raul Fernandez found himself inside Jorge Martin at Turn 5 and the two came into contact with Jorge Martin falling. The Race Direction decided not to take action, defining the episode as a racing incident.
The Aprilia Trackhouse rider commented on what happened: “I’m sorry for the incident with Jorge, but I’m quite annoyed by the way he handled the situation when I was about to overtake him – the words of Raul Fernandez reported by the newspaper Marca – from the outside it looks like I hit him and yes, I do hit him, but first when I braked and decided to overtake him he saw me and, if you look at the helicopter footage and telemetry data, you can see how he lifts the bike. And when he sees it’s me, he puts the bike back down and completely closes the line on me. At that point, I can do nothing more, I repeat, I’m very sorry because we had a good chance to get on the podium. From the helicopter images, it’s clear: there is a point where I pass Jorge, I didn’t intend to pass him, but he braked too early. At that moment, when he braked sharply, I got scared and the only option I had was to go inside, without going too wide or too tight. When he saw me, you can clearly see how he lifts the bike a bit and when he sees it’s me, he closes the line again.”
