New F1, criticisms rain down
“Formula E on steroids“, “You need a degree to drive“, “Let Formula 1 be Formula 1“: the 2026 revolution in F1 has not gathered unanimous consensus, and in the pre-season, criticisms from drivers have multiplied towards concepts and driving styles that are not to their liking. Which perhaps just need time to be digested – by drivers and the public – but at the moment they are accompanied by the skepticism of most.

Among the critics is also Bernie Ecclestone, who is an expert in regulation changes, having lived through and led many. The former Formula 1 boss basically agrees with Max Verstappen and would return to cars with simpler concepts.
Ecclestone’s words
“The DNA of Formula 1 is to be a world championship for drivers, not for engineers“, these were his words to sport.de. “There will be confusion at the start of the season because everyone will have to learn Formula 1 all over again. “Formula 1 now competes more with Formula E“, he added. “Maybe the fans like it, but I don’t think so. The risk is that we will lose the fans. I sincerely hope I’m wrong”.
