The ‘old guard’ applauds the show
Raise your hand if you would have ever said that two veterans like Bernie Ecclestone and Helmut Marko would declare themselves satisfied and excited by the 2026 F1. Two ‘monuments’ of the paddock raised on naturally aspirated engines agree in defining this season’s GPs as thrilling and exciting.
“Yes, the 2026 races excite us – Marko and Ecclestone said in unison when reached by the Swiss newspaper Blick – the races are thrilling, even in Hungary where usually the race is a procession to the finish line there were overtakes. Verstappen’s is without a doubt one of the highlights of all 2026.”
Ecclestone and Marko also agree on who will be world champion: “The World Championship will be won by Antonelli“, they said. The Italian driver went on vacation with a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, on whom he gained 18 points in the last two races.

Antonelli’s lead is considerable, even though the season is still very long. To follow, possibly, will be the chase of the reigning champion Lando Norris, who broke through in Hungary. The McLaren driver is 91 points behind Antonelli.
