Ferrari beaten by Toyota at Imola
The 2026 WEC World Championship opened with a victory for Toyota, which won the 6 Hours of Imola with the TR010 Hybrid #8 of the crew formed by Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa, and Sebastien Buemi.

Ferrari started in pole position with #51 and after the start led the race with two cars, as #50 overtook Toyota #8 at the start, taking advantage of having started with some soft tires.
During the race, however, Toyota took command of operations with a strategy to never relinquish the lead, and Ferrari at least defended second place from the comeback of the TR010 Hybrid #7. Car #50 had to fight its way back up to finish in sixth place after serving a drive-through penalty for not respecting a yellow flag.

“The spectacle provided by the Tifosi was fantastic and our first thought goes to them, a heartfelt thank you for providing us, as always, with extraordinary support in a special context like the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, which allowed the public to experience a unique weekend – said Antonello Coletta – we leave Imola with a second place achieved by the 499P number 51, the best position we could have obtained today in a race that proved, as expected, very hard-fought. It’s a shame about the result of car number 50, which was very fast, but due to the penalty it suffered, it could not go beyond sixth position: the regret remains for not having obtained a greater number of points with this crew.”
