BYD, V2L technology at Milan Design Week

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, BYD teams up with Haier with a project designed to concretely and immersively showcase the potential of Vehicle-to-Load technology. The heart of the initiative is represented by “Inside the Experience,” a journey that transforms Milan into an interconnected ecosystem where design, adaptive technology, and new ways of living seamlessly interact. The main venue is the Haier Hub in Via Bergognone 26, an installation capable of making tangible the possibilities of shared energy between mobility and household appliances.

Within the area, from April 21 to 26, a BYD DOLPHIN SURF will demonstrate how V2L technology allows the vehicle to supply power to external devices. The car, offered as a 100% electric compact model oriented towards urban use, thus becomes a reliable “source” even outside the context of daily driving, powering one of Haier’s iconic appliances while guests experience the installation. The DOLPHIN SURF integrates the Blade Battery, designed to ensure high standards of safety, durability, and performance, elements also verified through the Nail Penetration Test.

V2L Technology in the Spotlight

Vehicle-to-Load opens up new scenarios: it makes the electric car more versatile, capable of supporting those who work on the move, those who love adventure, and those who simply want to have power at hand. With a power output of up to about 3 kW, the system promoted by the Chinese tech company allows powering multiple devices simultaneously, via an adapter connected to the vehicle’s charging socket, supporting high-consumption devices and tools such as laptops, e-bikes, portable refrigerators, work tools, and small household appliances.
