Pains and resilience
Coming off the heroic double third place at Silverstone (in the Sprint and the GP), Marco Bezzecchi arrives in Aragon, for the eponymous GP, aware that this is a crucial stage in the long race towards the title. Losing more points to teammate Jorge Martin could indeed be a problem for the Rimini rider, who also risks being <strong{overtaken in the standings by Marc Marquez, a strong favorite on the MotorLand track, which is one of his favorites. However, what will complicate Bezzecchi’s life quite a bit is a very precarious physical condition.
The troubles of the left knee
Speaking at a press conference, the Aprilia rider gave a sort of detailed medical report on his health status; and while the operated shoulder is improving, the same cannot be said for his left knee. “Obviously the Silverstone weekend was nice but very tough. After the weekend I suffered some discomfort in the knee – revealed Bezzecchi – I can’t complain about the condition of the shoulder, I am recovering well. It’s not yet as I would like, but it’s the best I can get now. For the left knee instead I am suffering a lot: unfortunately this injury requires a lot of time to improve and riding on it is not the best way to defeat the pain. I gave my best at Silverstone and I will give my best here too. Securing another podium? Silverstone was very emotional and difficult as a race. I like this track but obviously Marquez and also the other Ducati riders will be fast. We will try to survive and bring home the best possible“.

“Marc is fast everywhere, but here especially – Bezzecchi added, speaking about the reigning world champion – the best thing for me is to focus on myself. It will be a tough weekend. The shoulder is recovering in the right way – he reiterated – it’s a clavicle injury, so it’s not too serious. But the fracture was big, so the surgery took longer compared to previous fractures. But the biggest problem is the left knee: it’s taking more time and the knee is producing fluid inside, so it’s difficult to bend the leg fully. I would like to recover as soon as possible, but I have to suffer”, Bez concluded.
