An unwanted fall
Marco Bezzecchi had started from pole very focused on not letting Marc Marquez pass at the first corner, as happened yesterday in the Misano Sprint and even earlier in the Aragon weekend.
The Italian from Aprilia managed to keep the Spanish rival behind him and tried to pull away immediately. But ‘Bez’ overdid it and fell at the Curvone on the first lap, ending a weekend in the gravel that was supposed to bring much more than the mere 9 points taken home.
Now there is a 33-point gap behind the Spanish pair at the top of the world championship tied, formed by Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin.

Bezzecchi’s mea culpa
To the microphones of the English TNT Sport, Marco Bezzecchi explained: “The start of the race went well, up to Turn 13. I had a slight shake under braking at the Curvone and unfortunately I couldn’t close the line perfectly and with a full tank it’s always quite complicated. I still tried to bring the bike in, but I lost the front. Yes, it’s a mistake that hurts me, but that’s how it went”.
Bezzecchi then denied having ‘felt’ too much the home race at Misano: “This mistake costs me dearly, but it was not caused by pressure. In the end, I could have made this mistake anywhere. It would have been better not to make it anywhere, but that’s how it went. If I wanted to work without pressure, I should go to the workshop with my father, but I have won races in MotoGP and here it goes like this. In this sport memory is short-term and you have to leave everything behind”.

The Italian rider emphasized the importance of not giving too much weight to the misstep: “I want to continue the progression in terms of speed and confidence from after the injury to today. If we look at Silverstone and Aragon, here at Misano it went a little better. The mistake in the race ruined the result, but the championship is still very long and my goal remains the same: to try to get back to my best form, as at the beginning of the year“, concluded ‘Bez’.
