Bearman incident, Colapinto highlights the dangers of this F1: “It was as if he was on a fast lap and I was on an out-lap”

What the Alpine driver said

“When I saw him he was already on the grass. There was an 80 km/h difference between me and him. It was as if he was on a fast lap and I was on an out-lap. It is very difficult and dangerous to race like this, I am glad he is okay”. This is how Franco Colapinto described his point of view regarding the accident involving Oliver Bearman to Viaplay .

The Haas driver practically saw Colapinto’s Alpine ‘in his face’ approaching the Spoon curve because, as a result of this regulation, a frightening speed difference was created between the two cars.

Bearman could do nothing but swerve to the left ending up on the grass and losing control of his Haas. Fortunately, he only suffered a bruise; the side impact was very hard and Bearman was in a lot of pain when he got out of the cockpit.
