Second consecutive points finish for Oliver Bearman after the 7th place achieved in Australia, with the Haas driver even managing to improve his performance in the Chinese Grand Prix. Starting from tenth position on the starting grid, the Briton crossed the finish line in 5th place, behind only the Ferraris and Mercedes.

The comeback
A result obtained despite losing positions in the early stages of the race to dodge Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull, which had spun, with the subsequent strategy implemented by the team allowing him to recover up to fifth place: “It was a fantastic race, we couldn’t have asked for more, and now I just want to keep it up – he commented – on the first lap I was very unlucky with Hadjar spinning in front of me and I thought our race was over, at that moment I had dropped to 12th position. Fortunately, the safety car came out at the right time, when we needed that pace. We made the most of the luck, and the car was very fast today, I’m very happy.”
The goal of the first points finish instead faded for teammate Esteban Ocon, who had not reached the top-10 in Australia either. Starting from 13th position, the Frenchman even climbed up to 3rd place with the entry of the Safety Car, remaining in the top ten even after the pit stop. However, in the duel with Colapinto, Ocon came into contact with the Alpine’s Argentine, with Race Control penalizing him by 10 seconds. Returning to the pits again to serve the penalty and for a tire change, the Frenchman then finished the race in 14th place: “We were about to have a great race, considering the pace we had on the hard tires – he stated – it’s the second race in a row that we’ve had a safety car or virtual safety car at the wrong time, while we’re in the points, so today didn’t go as we hoped. I made a mistake with Franco and misjudged the gap, but until then we battled throughout the race, so it’s a shame it ended like this.”
