Since last December Oliver Bearman has been experiencing the scheduled GPs with bated breath due to a mistake on track that could cost him dearly: more than for the final result, the Englishman from Haas is concretely close to the risk of a disqualification for one race, due to the 10 penalty points accumulated on his FIA Super License from May to December 2025. According to the regulations, in fact, if a driver should reach or exceed a total of 12 points, they would suffer automatic exclusion from the starting grid in the following race weekend. For Bearman, as in previous weekends, a more or less serious penalty would be enough to approach the ban, with a return to the track expected once the disqualification has been served.

The reset to zero

However, on the occasion of the Canadian GP, the situation of #87 could ease. If the Briton does not receive sanctions on Friday and Saturday, Bearman would go from 10 to 8 points, thus reducing the risk of a concrete exclusion. From May 23 to December 7, the points will further decrease until they are completely canceled. Since this regulation was introduced, only one driver has reached 12 points: the case also occurred in Haas, when Kevin Magnussen was forced to miss the Azerbaijan GP after reaching the maximum points the previous weekend in Monza. By pure coincidence, Bearman himself replaced him, making his debut as a full-time Haas driver after his absolute debut with Ferrari that same year in Saudi Arabia to replace Carlos Sainz.
