The 2020 Moto2 world champion will return to an Italian bike in the satellite structure of the Noale factory taking the place of Ai Ogura alongside the confirmed Raul Fernandez.
Bastianini emphasized that the mutual courting with Aprilia has rather old origins: “I have been talking with Aprilia since I moved from Moto2 to MotoGP – the words of the Italian rider – this year we started negotiations from the first race”.
The feeling judging by Bastianini’s words is that the rider from Rimini can’t wait to ‘escape’ from KTM, a factory that in any case has paid him handsomely in these two years: “I have a great relationship with Tech3 and with all the people who work in the box, but to be honest we haven’t found more speed between 2025 and 2026 – explained Bastianini – I started thinking about my future very early this year, from the first race, because I saw great potential in Aprilia bikes and I thought it could be my future. I am sure we can be competitive”.
