Barcelona, still fear in the tests: Martin's fall in curve-7. No fractures, but further checks will be carried out in hospital

Martin still on the ground

It seems MotoGP in Barcelona knows no peace. After everything that happened on Sunday in the race, with the terrible accidents that caused serious injuries to Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco, today during the collective tests organized on the Catalan track it was Jorge Martin who was the victim of a bad fall in turn 7. The Aprilia champion – who had already had to face as many as five slides during the weekend between free practice, qualifying, Sprint and race – ended up in the gravel around 11:30 am, causing the tests to be interrupted with a red flag.

Immediately some concern arose about the condition of the Madrid rider: Martin remained conscious at all times, but according to information gathered on track by some Spanish colleagues (Alex Faura of Marca and German Casanova of Motorsport.com) he was immediately immobilized with a cervical collar. Aprilia confirmed that the rider was immediately taken by ambulance to the circuit medical center. His RS-GP26 was brought back to the pits and apparently does not seem excessively damaged.

The Aprilia statement

Aprilia then provided an official statement updating on the condition of the Spanish rider, who as a precaution was transferred to hospital: “Following the fall at turn 7, Jorge Martin was taken to the circuit medical center for checks, especially on the left elbow and right leg. From the examinations carried out at the circuit medical center, no visible fractures were found, but it was decided to take Martin to the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona for further checks“.
