Bagnaia, what a mistake at Le Mans
Until the first half of the Le Mans GP, there was a feeling that Francesco Bagnaia had returned to the levels of two years ago. “Pecco”, after all, had returned to pole position after the 2025 Malaysian GP and had secured a valuable second place in the Sprint; even in the first part of the race he was following Marco Bezzecchi by 1″. Then, a crash at Dunlop under pressure from Pedro Acosta (and especially Jorge Martin, who was coming like an unstoppable cyclone) wiped everything out. An “inconvenience” – as Bagnaia calls it – that cost him another zero, a possible podium and perhaps the opportunity to take a step forward in the Ducati hierarchy with Marc Marquez out of action at least until the next GP.
It is normal that Bagnaia is disappointed about a missed opportunity (his immediate reaction proves it), especially because this problem is the same as in Jerez de la Frontera, and therefore concerns the brake area. “Pecco” however tries to provide a positive assessment of the weekend especially in light of the progress of the GP26 with the new fairing.
Bagnaia’s words
“It was finally a weekend where we were fast from the start. We worked well, we improved a lot“, this is his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. Today in the race we were there, despite the fatigue at the start I managed to get back close, but we had a small inconvenience and lap after lap I lost confidence in the front end. We know why I fell, the team is absolutely working on it, but it can happen. It’s the same problem as last time“.

“This loss of confidence happened in my last seven laps, more or less. And unfortunately it was getting worse, until I could no longer enter as I wanted. It definitely hurts me a lot inside, but we were fast all weekend: I got pole, today we were there, I managed to manage everything quite well and unfortunately what happened happened“, he added. “I have full confidence in the work we are doing and I am sure that we will arrive in Barcelona having made a good step forward from the tests and I hope we will be able to make a further one to put ourselves on par with Aprilia“.
