Aston Martin still empty-handed
The start of the World Championship has divided the grid into three parts: leading the way is Mercedes, with Ferrari and McLaren hoping to compete with the Brackley team under certain conditions; six teams follow (including Red Bull) which are very close to each other and form a large midfield group; Aston Martin and Cadillac close the field, clearly the teams that started the worst in the new technical cycle.

If a difficult start in F1 was predictable for Cadillac, for the Silverstone team it is a clear embarrassment after the enormous investments and efforts made by owner Lawrence Stroll. In the first races of the World Championship, the Honda power unit issue emerged, a source of vibrations that make it almost impossible to finish the GP. The problem recurred at Suzuka, but only starting from Saturday: in the first free practice sessions, in fact, Aston Martin adopted an effective solution by fitting new components. Which, however, were not brought to the race.
Krack’s words
“We implemented several measures and the tests carried out during the session showed a small improvement“, explained Chief Trackside Officer Mike Krack. “We worked on a variety of components, but their integration always involves a certain risk. For reliability reasons, we decided not to use the new parts in the race. However, we saw some promising signs“.

With the first three races behind us, and with the break of over a month due to the war in Iran, it would be a surprise to see Aston Martin bogged down again due to power unit vibrations: “I firmly believe that in Miami we will have made progress and we will no longer have to talk about it“. But the other teams certainly won’t stand by and watch, and in Florida they will bring developments to improve performance. Aston Martin, on the other hand, must prioritize resolving the serious problems affecting the AMR26. The risk, therefore, is seeing Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll even further behind when the championship resumes.
