Assen 2026, Superpole Race: Bulega -1 from Razgatlioglu’s record

The Superpole Race of the Assen Round concluded with the same, identical top-5 as Race 1 on Saturday, led by a rider who, until now, has finished all races of this championship as the classification leader: Nicolò Bulega. Also in the Dutch Sprint, the #11 of the Aruba.it – Ducati team firmly held the lead from the green light to the checkered flag, with a result that allows him to approach a historical record that he can equal today in Race 2.

Race Report

At the start, the first three riders maintained their positions, with Bulega leading ahead of Sam Lowes and Lecuona. However, already during the first lap, the Spaniard from official Ducati managed to get the better of the Briton, all in a nice duel for fourth position between Alex Lowes and Xavi Vierge. On the other hand, the two BMWs of Petrucci and Oliveira performed poorly: while the Umbrian rider lost four positions, dropping from 4th to 8th place, his Portuguese teammate did even worse, slipping to 14th place. Already from the 2nd lap, the riders on the virtual podium significantly pulled away from their pursuers, with Alex Lowes being chased in the second half of the race by Bautista, precisely at a moment when the first drops of rain fell on the Assen circuit. A successful overtake by the two-time Spanish world champion for fourth position during the penultimate lap. In contrast, Bulega, undisturbed, secured his second victory of this weekend, equivalent to his twelfth consecutive, -1 from Razgatlioglu’s record. This is therefore the Superpole Race finishing order, with Race 2 starting at 3:30 PM and being broadcast live on Sky Sport MotoGP and free-to-air on TV8.
