Fernando Alonso blows out 45 candles today and Aston Martin tries to celebrate its champion with a special gift. After a complicated season, marked by the difficulties of the AMR26, one of the most disappointing cars in F1 history, the Silverstone team debuted the new power unit in Hungary during today’s filming day.

The debut of the new power unit enhanced thanks to the ADUO concessions, developed thanks to the ADUO concessions, comes a few days after the aerodynamic update package also introduced at the Hungaroring. Alonso had welcomed the news positively, explaining that he had finally regained the feeling of “driving a car“. Now the team’s hope is that the new engine can also guarantee a step up in quality, relaunching the team’s ambitions and strengthening the bond with the two-time world champion.
<pAt the wheel of the AMR26 in updated configuration is Jak Crawford. After taking part in the Pirelli tests, the American driver is tasked with completing the 200 kilometers planned for the filming day and collecting data on the new Honda power unit, so far one of the main weak points of the car.

The first real test for the new engine will come at the Dutch Grand Prix, scheduled in Zandvoort from August 21 to 23, after the summer break. Alonso will follow the data collected in Budapest with particular attention, hoping that the updates can represent a turning point for Aston Martin and offer new prospects for the end of the season.
