Still at zero
The period of great results crisis continues for Aston Martin, once again without any points scored after five races. Following the Miami GP, which had at least seen both drivers of the Silverstone team finish the race, at Montreal we witnessed the third retirement of the season for Fernando Alonso.

The seat stops Alonso
The two-time world champion, just when he was in a favorable position to realistically approach the points zone, was forced to return to the pits due to a seat problem, thus abandoning any chance to reach the top 10: “We had a good start and were fighting for the top ten positions – he explained – we made the right choice starting on Soft tires, while others opted for Intermediates and were forced to pit early. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the seat during the race, so we decided to retire the car. It seemed we were faster here than in Miami with the same package. We have to wait for performance to improve with the updates coming during the summer break, but in the meantime we will try to continue optimizing this package.”

Who instead crossed the finish line was the only home driver present on the starting grid: Lance Stroll. For #18, however, the 15th place finish was proof of a difficult weekend both for him and for Aston Martin: “It was a tough weekend in Montreal. We couldn’t get the tires to the necessary temperature and we struggled to find grip throughout the race. We didn’t have the necessary pace even on the straights. The car’s performance is still not at the desired level and there is still a lot of work to do to improve it.”
