Gresini at home
Two weeks after the terrible scare experienced in Barcelona with the fall of Alex Marquez, the Gresini team showed up at the home event on the Mugello circuit with Fermin Aldeguer and the replacement for the brother of the nine-time world champion, Michele Pirro. While the weekend was as complex as it was exciting for the historic Ducati test rider, the Spaniard finished in eighth position after the sixth place obtained in the Sprint.
What to improve
A therefore encouraging weekend for #54, even if the latter highlighted some aspects that hindered him during the race: “It was a positive weekend – he commented – at the start of the race we were really fast, we were able to stay in the group with Marc (Marquez) and Pedro (Acosta). From that challenge onwards I started to have some problems with the front tire. The bike started to turn with more difficulty, I had to use the rear a lot to turn the bike and we suffered. Physically we are not bad even if I have to say that this race was an important test from this point of view. We have to learn to use the front tire better, without that problem, we could have had our say.”

The tricolor emotion
19th and outside the points zone Michele Pirro, who nevertheless experienced the great feeling of racing in the home GP: “Exciting weekend, in Italy with Team Gresini it doesn’t happen every day and 14 years later to find these feelings again was really beautiful. I thank Nadia for the opportunity and the whole team for the great work done. Yesterday’s fall (Saturday) affected me a bit in terms of feeling and also mentally: honestly, I didn’t want to make any more mistakes. The bike was perfect, with great balance and I really enjoyed the race. Maybe by making a slightly better start we could have been a bit further ahead, our pace was not far from the 3-4 riders who were ahead of us.”
