After Canada comes the FIA verdict
The Montreal weekend will be the last in which the Federation will examine the data related to the performance of the power units to then establish through the ADUO if and how much the various engine manufacturers can intervene on the engines to try to close the performance gap with the reference power unit which without a doubt at the start of 2026 is the Mercedes power unit that has won all the GPs and Sprints also always obtaining pole positions.

Ferrari has built an excellent car, the SF-26 has excellent mechanical and aerodynamic bases, but in this first part of the season it has clearly emerged that there is a lack of horsepower. In Maranello there is anticipation regarding what the FIA’s decision will be in terms of the classification of the current power unit.
The ADUO, in fact, provides two thresholds of performance difference (2 and 4%) that allow 1 or 2 interventions on the power unit with an extra budget obviously directly proportional to the interventions to be made. Within 4% it will be possible to spend 3 million dollars, beyond 4% and within 6% the extra budget rises to 4.65 million dollars. Regardless of the money available to invest, it is not conceivable to close a gap of 25-30 horsepower with only one ‘token’ available if the Ferrari power unit were judged not beyond 4% performance difference compared to the Mercedes engine.
