24 Hours of Nurburgring, here we go
Will the package of modifications to the 2026 engine software of Formula 1 have been enough to cure the stomach aches of Max Verstappen? Maybe. Certainly, however, the innovations introduced in Miami have in no way changed the original plans of the four-time world champion who, in fact, as planned – in a build-up that started last year with some preparatory races aimed at obtaining the special “license” to race at the Nordschleife – this weekend (here the full schedule) will race at the Nurburgring in the 24 Hours on one of the most demanding, technical and dangerous circuits in the world.

The weekend is uphill…
The latest outings have not been so fortunate either, between disqualifications a few hours after celebrating a victory – due to a team error related to the number of tires used over the weekend – canceled races and retirements due to mechanical problems. So much so that Max Verstappen’s crew will have to get their hands dirty from the very first elimination qualifying session, called Top Qualifying 1 (or, more simply, TQ1) to climb back up the group and avoid starting too far back on the 24 Hours grid.

… but Max Verstappen’s goal does not change
A certainly challenging challenge, but one that does not scare the home ace Red Bull who, although making his debut in such a long endurance race, is already aiming for the big prize, that is the overall victory together with his teammates Jules Gounon, Daniel Juncadella and Lucas Auer. “The goal is victory – says the Dutchman on the eve of the start of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring weekend, where he will again be behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 already driven on three other occasions this year – and that is why we are here. And even though I know it won’t be easy, this is the target for anyone participating in this race.” “Driving at night? Probably the best feeling because you are alone, pushing in the dark. The car, moreover, is usually faster at night, so I can’t wait to do it,” concludes Max Verstappen.
