MotoGP, KTM and Acosta at the home race
The Austrian GP, for the last time in his career, will have a special meaning for Pedro Acosta. The Spaniard will race this weekend at the Red Bull Ring, his last “home” appointment as a KTM rider before moving to Ducati. He arrives with good momentum, considering the two consecutive podiums: if he repeats it on Sunday, he will have three in a row for the first time in MotoGP.

It won’t be easy, because the RC16 loses something in terms of top speed to Ducati and Aprilia, but in 2025 Acosta managed to snatch a third place in the Sprint and a P4 in the race. Getting the first MotoGP win in Austria is therefore very difficult, but the Tiburón likes to dream.
Acosta’s words
“We can’t think about winning at this moment, it’s true that this is our home GP but Ducati is a step ahead of us, and the same goes for Aprilia. Bezzecchi, for example, was very competitive here last year“, this was his comment at the press conference. Then, he opened up to the prospect of victory: “For me it would be the best way to conclude a cycle. I have been part of the KTM team since I was 16, I have known everyone since I was a child. It would be the best way to conclude our story, knowing however that we are far from the championship fight with Marquez and Martin“.
“We come here in a positive mood, the last races have been quite good for us. It is just a matter of seeing how the bike will work tomorrow: we will play our cards, we will see how things go. I don’t expect crazy improvements, but we come here in a great mood and with the awareness that in 2025 we had a good race“.
In the riders’ standings, the future Ducati rider is fifth, 65 points behind the top. Still an amazing result, considering that Acosta has more points than all the other KTM riders combined (209 against 189).
