Ducati in love with ‘Desmo-Acosta’
In 2027 and 2028 Ducati will have an all-Spanish dream team formed by Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta. The Borgo Panigale manufacturer has managed to renew the contract of the nine-time world champion and has also secured a bright future with what is perhaps the greatest talent to arrive in MotoGP in recent years.

“That game of glances typical of someone in love had been going on for a while – explained the sporting director Mauro Grassilli – we observed each other, exchanging somewhat unusual, vaguely allusive glances. We studied each other and, when the opportunity to unite finally presented itself, it was practically love at first sight. We don’t look at passports or nationality, but we certainly evaluate performance and mentality”.
“We also consider how a rider can win the hearts of the Ducatisti, who for us perhaps represent the most important part of the company as our customers and fans – he added – Pedro embodies all these qualities, he is undoubtedly extremely fast and aggressive, in the positive sense of the term. In my opinion, he possesses the same ‘Desmo’ heart that we have; we just need to make him understand it”.

Regarding the rivalry that will be established with Marc Marquez, Grassilli explained that it is better to have problems of that kind than to compete against two riders of that caliber: “Frictions arise naturally. As Luigi Dall’Igna always says, it’s better to have two strong riders in the team and try to manage them rather than have them as rivals. So, some friction might arise, given that they are both extremely strong riders. They are both professionals, we will try to manage the situation as best as possible”.
