He was one of the announced protagonists of the Festival of Speed weekend at Goodwood, but his Friday performance ended with a bit of healthy embarrassment and some… laughter. Lando Norris, guest of honor at the Duke of Richmond‘s estate for the first time since he was crowned Formula 1 world champion at the end of last season, was in the spotlight on July 10 along with his lifelong idol, Valentino Rossi. He then created one of the most “memorable” moments of the entire event.

Lando gets stuck with the Nissan Silvia
At one point, at the height of the event sponsored by Monster Energy, one of the historic partners that Norris and Rossi have shared for many years, Lando actually got into a Nissan Silvia S13 to delight the audience with some “ignorant” drifting on the famous hill climb course. However, not everything went exactly according to plan: after about a hundred meters of smoking the rear tires in a burnout, the Formula 1 world champion tried to take advantage of a small extension of the asphalt strip – right behind the Duke of Richmond’s mansion – to do a donut, a “ring” with the rear tires.

Only the English McLaren driver miscalculated the space, ending up stuck and requiring the intervention of the track marshals before resuming his run, as seen in the video below (from about 0:50).
After getting out of the car and receiving the embrace of the crowd, as always particularly warm and passionate at Goodwood, the driver then joked about the incident without denying a bit of embarrassment. “In Formula 1 the rules are too restrictive and we are never allowed to have fun. In F1 we can never do burnouts – Lando Norris justifies – so maybe I need a bit more practice. I got stuck in the grass… it was quite embarrassing!”.
