Peugeot, three new models in Mulhouse from 2029

Stellantis will produce three new electric and hybrid Peugeot models at the Mulhouse plant in eastern France starting from 2029. The announcement is part of a renewed global plan of the group, which aims to support a significant relaunch of the product range. The choice of Mulhouse fits into the broader context of Stellantis’ investments in France, as also indicated by Macron, who last week spoke of a total investment of 1 billion euros in the country.

To implement the strategy, Stellantis has planned an investment of 400 million euros specifically at the Mulhouse plant, in addition to a further 500 million euros allocated to research and development. Most of the R&D resources will be used for the new STLA One platform, considered a key element to support the future range of electrified vehicles. In this context, the architecture is described as a competitiveness leap. According to CEO Antonio Filosa, it should be about 20% more competitive compared to current architectures.

The project roadmap foresees that STLA One will be launched initially in Spain in 2027, with the production of the new Peugeot 208, while globally Stellantis aims to reach a production of 2 million vehicles per year on the platform by 2035. Filosa also linked the platform to a broader industrial goal: to reach cost parity with Chinese manufacturers operating in Europe. At the same time, the company is working to reduce the risk of overcapacity by sharing some plants with its partners, for example in Rennes, and continuing to invest in new models and production capacity at sites like Mulhouse.
