MotoGP Mugello, Qualifying Report
An amazing Marco Bezzecchi ignites Mugello and earns his first pole position on the Tuscan circuit. In a weekend so far dominated by Ducati’s Fabio Di Giannantonio, the Romagna rider strikes with an incredible time: 1:43.921, a new absolute track record, built almost entirely with a stellar T3, where he takes many risks at the Arrabbiate corners and beats the entire competition by at least two tenths.

It’s a celebration for Bez, who races with a helmet dedicated to Alex Zanardi, but the entire Aprilia team has reason to rejoice. The Noale factory delivers a clear response to Ducati by monopolizing the front row, thanks to Raul Fernandez‘s second-best time (who emerged from Q1 with Pedro Acosta) and Jorge Martin‘s third place, at still considerable gaps – the 2024 world champion is almost four tenths behind his teammate.
Unfavorable balance for Ducati, which misses the 1st row at the Italian GP for the first time since 2011. The best is Marc Marquez, fourth just one hundredth behind Martin. The Spaniard loses even half a second in T3 and is slower in direction changes between Materassi, Borgo San Lorenzo, and Casanova-Savelli. Understandable, considering the less-than-ideal condition of his right shoulder, but enough to precede Fermin Aldeguer, Francesco Bagnaia, and Di Giannantonio, only seventh after leading every session.
Very good performance by Diogo Moreira, eighth, tenth position for Pedro Acosta on a struggling KTM. Eliminated in Q1 instead is Ai Ogura, who will start from 13th position.
