Lewis flies without the simulator
During the Miami weekend, Lewis Hamilton explained his decidedly poor performance with the deliberate simulator setup that threw him off track, in a weekend marked by the Sprint format and therefore with less track time available to adjust the setup.
So Hamilton showed up in Canada doing his own thing and ignoring this type of simulator work, and the results proved him right, as he finished second under the checkered flag, his best placement since racing for Ferrari.

Hamilton will try to fix the simulator
In a press conference Lewis Hamilton explained that he will try to do the reverse work, that is a retrospective comparison on the good setup used in Montreal on track and the sensations it gives on the simulator, to try to understand the problems of the machine or the software.
“The simulator? I will get back to driving it sooner or later… It might be useful, for example, to go back and make a comparison with this weekend, to understand where the gaps are. The test driver will say everything is fine, but they only know what they know, since they don’t drive. It’s only me and Charles driving the car. The positive side of driving the real car is being able to go back and say: ‘This is how it really feels, these are the things we are missing,’ so we can improve it,” Hamilton said.

The Ferrari driver nevertheless clarified that he will continue on his own path: “Will I use it to prepare for another race? Probably not, it’s too risky. For my two best races I have competed in, I did not use a simulator. In all previous championships – except strongly in 2008 – I did not use the simulator. For me it is not a necessity, it is a tool that can be powerful but, as far as I’m concerned, I’m old school. I do better without it,” Hamilton concluded.
