Cupra will bring the sporty SUV concept Tindaya into production in the coming years, relaunching itself as a brand capable of going beyond its current crossovers. The prototype was presented at the Munich Motor Show last year. From the start, the Spanish company announced it as a futuristic and sleek model, designed to anticipate the next evolution of Cupra’s stylistic language. And to put driver engagement at the center. Not by chance, during the presentation, the brand hinted at the arrival of a possible new flagship, ideally positioned above the Tavascan and Terramar.

Cupra Tindaya towards production
The new electric SUV would thus enter a crucial European premium segment, where today the competition includes models like Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC. But also where, meanwhile, the transition to electric is now an irreversible acceleration. In this sense, Cupra should focus on size and character of a high-end SUV. While remaining tied to the Volkswagen Group’s strategies, the vehicle would use the new SSP platform intended for electric vehicles, which will be first employed by Audi. The goal is to ensure performance and efficiency levels suitable for a contemporary flagship.
Powertrain still to be defined
However, the most “revolutionary” aspect that emerged around the concept remains to be clarified. Namely, Autocar cites the possible presence of a range extender engine of about 490 HP, discussed as a distinctive element of the most advanced version of the Tindaya. At the moment, the Spanish company has not confirmed a definitive powertrain, explaining that the choice of technology could evolve rapidly depending on the platform and market needs. Essentially, although the reference to the new group platform has already been decided, the final configuration of engines and variants is still to be defined. Cupra’s intention is to maintain flexibility until the car approaches its market debut and must offer “the right powertrains” for the target customers.
