The right year?
As every year, there is always enormous attention and curiosity towards Ferrari to understand if this will be the right season in which the Maranello team will finally manage to end its title drought that has now lasted for almost twenty years. The technical regulation change introduced this year represented a great opportunity, but for the moment the Prancing Horse team has had to bow to the renewed supremacy of Mercedes.
Liuzzi’s doubts
We talked exclusively about the situation of the red team with former F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi, today often part of the FIA steward panel during the Circus race weekends: “Ferrari fighting for the title? I hope so. But I’m not too optimistic because unfortunately over the years we have been used to the fact that they have a somewhat slower development during the season compared to others” – Liuzzi explained – “although it is still always a team that fights for the top three places in the World Championship. It’s easy to criticize from the outside, but improving is never simple because the rivals don’t stand still. Ferrari always shows to be up front, unfortunately not enough to fight for the title. But I hope I’m wrong, maybe we will also see Ferrari fighting in the second part of the championship”.

A matter of age
So far, the best results in Ferrari have been achieved by Charles Leclerc while Lewis Hamilton, although finally unlocking himself with the podium achieved in China, always struggles more than his Monegasque teammate: “Hamilton is one of the greatest champions in history, but I think in the end the age factor makes the difference. After a certain age, even if physically you are always at the top, mentally and in terms of reflexes I believe there is a physiological and natural decline that does not allow him to have the performances he would like. He always fights like a mastiff and puts his soul into it, but Leclerc does it with much more ease and this is not a matter of pure talent because Hamilton has been one of the greatest in history anyway“.
