Three years together at Mercedes
Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher shared the Mercedes garage for three years from 2010 to 2012. The seven-time world champion, in fact, returned to F1 with the Silver Star team after the break in the 2007-2009 period, but the three years at Mercedes were not lucky for the Kaiser even though there were feats such as the pole position obtained at the 2012 Monaco GP, a masterpiece spoiled by the 5-place grid penalty for rear-ending Bruno Senna at the previous GP in Spain.

The English engineer Jock Clear was able to observe the two compatriots up close and said that Nico Rosberg obviously studied Schumacher’s data thoroughly, but according to Clear the future 2016 world champion’s attention should have focused on Michael’s real secrets.
“When I was Nico Rosberg’s engineer in 2010, Michael was on the other side of the garage – Clear’s words reached by Betpack – there were many points where Michael was faster than Nico. And Nico was looking at ‘what is Michael doing here? Why?’ There were moments when I wanted to tell Nico ‘close the laptop and sit down to watch that man. Listen to him, listen to how he talks to people and watch him, watch his body language’. What he didn’t understand was how much Michael knew how to engage people and how everyone wanted to be part of his team. Everyone wanted Michael to win. Everyone wanted Michael to be their best friend. He was able to generate that kind of support completely naturally. There was nothing forced about it. It wasn’t something studied; he was simply a very charismatic person and, in such a competitive environment, that’s exactly what makes the difference.”
