Still in America, but further north
Two weeks after the Miami Grand Prix, which saw Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s third consecutive celebration on the top step of the podium, Formula 1 will stop at the ‘Gilles Villeneuve’ circuit in Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix. Just like in the last race of the season, this weekend will also feature the Sprint race, giving drivers a double chance to earn championship points.
Haas brings updates
An opportunity that Oliver Bearman will not want to miss, being close to the top 10 not only in the last two US races but also in last year’s Canadian race, where he finished 11th. For the British driver, the goal is obviously to clearly return to the points zone after a very positive start to the championship, and for the 21-year-old, all the foundations are there: “Last year in Montreal I thought we could have done more, so I am definitely aiming to improve on that eleventh place – he said – we will bring our next upgrade to Canada, but obviously, being a Sprint weekend, it will be difficult to find the perfect setup immediately. However, I have no doubt that we will be in the mid-field group fighting for points in both races. I love the city of Montreal, the fans, the circuit… and even the weather! This year we arrive three weeks earlier than last year, so who knows if this will make things more interesting.”

Not just Bearman
The points zone therefore seems within reach for Bearman, with Haas hoping for a ‘double’ in the top 10 not only thanks to the work done in recent days but also because of the performance of Esteban Ocon, who reached 10th place at Suzuka as his provisional best result of the season: “It was nice to have a couple of weeks after Miami to reorganize and prepare for the Canadian Grand Prix – added the Frenchman – we worked hard in training and on the simulator with the team, so I can’t wait to get back in the car. Returning to Montreal is always special and has a bit of a home race atmosphere, since it is in North America and, of course, because French is the local language. The atmosphere in the city is always electrifying: Canadian fans are always fantastic and the track is exciting to drive. Miami was a tough race for us, but it gave us several insights on where we need to improve, so we have focused a lot on this aspect. Also, this weekend an update will arrive on the car and we hope to be able to put it to use immediately, since it is another Sprint weekend.”
