Di Giannantonio 3rd with regrets in Barcelona
The Montmeló Sprint reserves a third place with a bitter aftertaste for Fabio Di Giannantonio. The VR46 rider indeed shows he has the pace of the best from the first corner, but loses time jostling with various Morbidelli, Martin, Fernandez, and Zarco. The fall of Martinator and the pace of his Ducati allow the Roman to secure a top-3 finish and close just behind Alex Marquez and Acosta, but the regret remains of a too messy qualifying in all the time attacks.
Di Giannantonio’s words
“I’m a bit angry with myself because I messed up qualifying, I never did a clean lap.
I wanted to be a bit more aggressive than usual and I made a mistake. Unfortunately, from the second row it’s always complicated, with many riders trying to be aggressive“, this is the Roman’s comment to Sky Sport MotoGP.
For #49 there was also room to hope for something more, considering his pace: “It was a very long sprint, longer than usual. I had a lot of fun. It’s a pity there were only a few laps left at the end, because in my opinion I had something more compared to Pedro and Alex“.

For tomorrow, the choice of tires will be crucial on a track that historically offers little grip and a lot of degradation. But Di Giannantonio does not rule out the soft: “Last year Acosta did the race with the soft, so I wouldn’t rule it out a priori. I want to analyze the data well, because in the end I really had a lot and I didn’t feel a big drop in the tire. I also think I have a good pace with used tires, we can really do well“.
