Previewed from May 18 at the Losanga stand of the 2026 edition of the Roland-Garros tournament, Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is a contemporary reinterpretation of two icons of the Renault 4: the Plein Air (1969) and the JP4 (1981). The goal is simple and declared: to reinterpret the most carefree and playful side of the historic versions, also adding a touch of adventurous spirit made possible by all-wheel drive. The result is an idea of a “free” 4L in style and ready to go off the beaten path, without giving up a modern aesthetic and features designed for sports and leisure.

Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept
The name pays tribute to the JP4 of the 1980s, but here electric power comes into play: the concept car with electric motor inherits the mood of an elegant and current beach buggy, both in image and dedicated solutions. The body opens to the sun thanks to the open design, while the functional elements aim to maximize versatility: perforated roof to increase rigidity, rear tailgate without a soft top to facilitate loading and, to make the fun spirit explicit, a surfboard placed on the roof and skateboards stored in the trunk. The whole tells an “outdoor” attitude that dialogues with the energy of the city and the freedom to move in style.
All-wheel drive always available
Character details also for interiors and technology. The body sports a slightly pearly Emerald Green, modernly reinterpreted compared to the historic tones of the 4L, in strong contrast with the orange interiors: pop, intense colors, almost a manifesto of lightness. Inside, standout are the enveloping seats with “petal” inspirations and a sporty upholstery, as well as a floating central console that combines robustness and refinement. On the technical side, Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is based on the same platform as the Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept unveiled last year, with a ground clearance increased by 15 mm and Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ 225/55 tires. The all-wheel drive is always available thanks to the addition of a second electric motor on the rear axle.
