The Ducati statement

Marc Márquez is recovering at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, where this morning he successfully underwent double surgery – reads the statement released by Ducati – The medical team, led by Dr. Samuel Antuña and assisted by colleagues Dr. Ignacio Roger de Oña, Dr. Andrés Maldonado, Dr. Jorge de las Heras, Dr. Raúl Barco, and Dr. Juan de Miguel, has successfully stabilized the fracture of the rider’s right fifth metatarsal. The injury occurred yesterday following a high-speed crash in the final stages of the French Grand Prix sprint race. At the same time – the note released to the media continues – Márquez underwent a second, already scheduled surgery to repair a previous injury to his right shoulder. This previous trauma was aggravated following the violent accident during last year’s Indonesian Grand Prix. The doctors removed two screws and a residual bone fragment from a previous Latarjet surgery (December 2019) that had shifted, compressing the radial nerve. As already announced, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider will not participate in next week’s Catalan GP. He will stay in the hospital overnight and return home tomorrow to begin rehabilitation. The progress over the coming weeks will determine the timing of his return to competition“.
