Ineos Automotive, after the debut of the Grenadier, has ruled out the idea of creating “from scratch” another vehicle of the same scale and structure. According to statements by CEO Lynn Calder, the British company instead intends to expand its range of more compact off-road vehicles relying on technological partners. The approach aims to reduce design times and complexity, focusing on sharing already established platforms and technologies, without substantially changing what was set with the technical base of the Grenadier.

Ineos rules out a new “from scratch” model
The first step of this strategy will be the Fusilier, for which the launch has been postponed: it will probably arrive by 2028. After this model, two more are planned, always with the aim of expanding the offer with more agile 4×4 vehicles suitable for a different segment. In particular, the platform of the new course will not be derived from the Grenadier: the British company does not intend to change the wheelbase or make significant changes to the platform, so the evolution would lead to a more compact 4×4.
Relying on technological partners
Regarding the nature of the technological partners, Ineos has not yet provided details, but in the past Autocar had reported negotiations with the Chinese company Chery to use a range extender platform linked to the iCar brand, internationally known as iCarur. Meanwhile, the company has had to face various obstacles related to electrification and production, including delays and discontinuities along the supply chain. Nevertheless, Calder indicated a 20% improvement in orders in the first quarter and recalled that Ineos has delivered about 35,000 vehicles globally since 2022.
