The finger of discord
The middle finger shown by Lewis Hamilton towards Franco Colapinto after the contact involving the two drivers at the Miami GP turned into a small controversy. Not so much because of the protagonists themselves – since the Englishman and the Argentine left the Florida circuit arm in arm, showing they had immediately reconciled – but because of those who, from the outside, did not appreciate an apparent difference in judgment between almost identical incidents by the FIA.

He is the Spanish driver Daniel Juncadella, a protagonist in GT races and teammate of Max Verstappen on the path to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, as well as a flag bearer for the Verstappen Racing team. Juncadella, under a post published by the site SoyMotor showing a photo of the middle finger shown by Hamilton to Colapinto, pointed the finger at the stewards and the federation: “Here I assume there was no fine, right? The FIA’s double standards… They never disappoint“.
A controversial precedent
The ’91-born Spaniard refers to an episode in which he was involved at the end of the 2025 season: during the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the last race of last year’s WEC championship, Juncadella showed the middle finger to rival Augusto Farfus. For this gesture he was fined 5000 euros, of which 4000 were suspended on probation. To those who, under the post where Juncadella commented, pointed out to the Iberian driver that Hamilton’s gesture was “nothing special“, Juncadella highlighted precisely this disparity in treatment.
